⚡ Power Anywhere: How to Calculate Your Portable Power Station Run Time

Sep 23, 2025

Ever wondered how long your devices can last on a power station—whether you’re camping in the wild, running an event, or just making sure your Wi-Fi stays on at home during a blackout? The answer lies in a simple calculation.

At Goritta, we want you to have the freedom to use power without worry. Here’s how you can plan your energy use smartly.

🔢 The Formula

  1. Find Device Power (W):
    W=V(Volts)×A(Amps)W = V (Volts) × A (Amps)

  2. Run Time (Hours):
RunTime=PowerStationCapacity(Wh)÷DevicePower(W)Run Time = Power Station Capacity (Wh) ÷ Device Power (W)

👉 Example: A 1,000Wh power station powering a 100W device will run for:
1000÷100=10hours1000 ÷ 100 = 10 hours

🏕️ Camping Scenario

You’re camping with a 300Wh portable power station and want to run a 50W mini fridge overnight.

  • Run Time = 300Wh ÷ 50W = 6 hours
Enough to keep your food and drinks fresh until morning.

🏠 At Home

Power Outage Backup
You want to run your Wi-Fi router (20W) and LED lights (10W) on a 500Wh station.

  • Total Power = 30W

  • Run Time = 500Wh ÷ 30W ≈ 16 hours

Off-Grid Living Solution
Daily essentials:

  • Mini fridge (60W × 24h = 1,440Wh)

  • LED lights (30W × 5h = 150Wh)

  • Router (20W × 24h = 480Wh)

Total ≈ 1,920Wh per day
With a 2,000Wh solar-charged station, you can live light and steady off-grid.

🛠️ Construction Site

Using a 2,000Wh power station to run a circular saw (1,200W):

  • Run Time = 2000Wh ÷ 1200W ≈ 1.6 hours
Great for short cutting jobs without the hassle of fuel or noisy gensets.

🎶 Events

Setup includes:

  • PA system (200W)

  • LED lighting (150W)

  • Coffee machine (800W)

Total = 1,150W
With a 6,000Wh power station:

  • Run Time = 6000Wh ÷ 1150W ≈ 5.2 hours
Perfect for small to mid-sized outdoor events without messy cabling.

☕ Coffee Machine Spotlight

Coffee machines are power-hungry but don’t run continuously.

  • Machine power: 800W

  • Station: 6,000Wh

Continuous use: 6000 ÷ 800 = 7.5 hours
One brew cycle (10 min): 800 × 0.17h ≈ 136Wh
Cups per charge: 6000 ÷ 136 ≈ 44 cups

That’s nearly 45 cups of coffee—enough to keep your event buzzing with energy.

💨 Life Support Device Backup

For a CPAP machine (40W) on a 600Wh power station:

  • Run Time = 600Wh ÷ 40W = 15 hours
Essential peace of mind during emergencies.
